Frankenstein Train Horn?? Yes, you read that right! Here's what's going on... over the years here at HornBlasters we have had Nathan horns arrive that were PERFECT all the way to let's say not so perfect! The not so perfect ones were always put to the side waiting to be fixed, cleaned, repaired, etc... Frankenstein K5's are now being assembled and offered, constructed from all of these leftover parts.
The most important and popular question; Are they loud? You bet your ass they're loud! Does it sound like the original K5LA sound sample? No, it does not.
Why is the sound different? Here's a short train horn lesson for you. Each horn bell has a number. The most common K5LA, like the $2399.99 horn on our site, uses bell numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. That bell combination produces a really sweet and loud train horn chord. What bell numbers will Frankenstein have? No idea, no guarantee. We will make every effort to mimic the 12345 originally found on the K5LA, but you also might end up with 12334 or 12233 or 11223 or 22333 or something similar.
Also, we all know Frankenstein wasn't the most handsome guy around so the Frankenstein horn will be just as ugly. Chips, scratches, repaired threads, and a raw finish. Or for a little more you can have it painted black. Don't worry about Frankenstein holding together though, it will arrive already tested, with all new hardware, and fresh diaphragms.
If you want to get into the Nathan horn game on the cheap, this is the perfect way to do it!
The most common question we get asked is, “What are your loudest horns?” Well, here they are! The same horn used on most American locomotives for decades, the AirChime K5LA train horn. While there are many kinds of train horns, the AirChime K5LA train horn is the golden standard that other train horns attempt to duplicate. With its massive size and intimidating tone, the AirChime K5LA train horn proves that if you want a train horn, there really is no substitution for the Godfather of Train Horns. With its lower profile straight manifold, the LA style is the best choice for installs where you are limited on space vertically, but have plenty of room horizontally.
As America's most popular train horn since the 1980s, the AirChime K5LA train horn is best known for its unusually upbeat and thunderous tone. Sought after for its looks as well as its sound, the AirChime K5LA train horn is constructed with five large die-cast aluminum bells with stainless steel diaphragms, mounted on their famous low profile bracket. The AirChime K5LA train horn is built tough enough to withstand years of wear and tear from rain, snow, and sun for years. It’s really no wonder why the K-series has been the horn of choice for locomotive companies for decades. Put through hours of machine time until the tone is perfected, you don’t get higher quality than these horns. In a sea of pretenders, make sure you get the real deal.
