Frequently Asked Questions

What is the loudest car horn?

The Shocker XL is the loudest car horn we sell, at 147.7 dB. It is a stand-alone train horn, so you need an onboard air system to run it. If you want that air system included, buy the Conductor's Special Train Horn Kit, which fits trucks, cars, SUVs and RVs. The Nathan AirChime K5 and our King 5 are louder at 149.4 dB, but they are locomotive horns. Our loudest electric horn is the Sniper Electric Horn.

What is the loudest horn without an air compressor?

The Sniper Electric Horn is the loudest horn we sell that doesn't require a separate air tank, since it comes with its own small on-demand compressor and the air tubing to connect it. Installation is just mounting and wiring, and it runs on 12 volts with the relay and harness already in the box. Watch out for listings that sell a "train horn" with no compressor at all: a real train horn needs 50+ PSI of stored air to honk correctly.

Is there a loud horn that just replaces my factory horn?

Yes, our Sniper Electric Horn. There's no tank or air system to install, just mounting and wiring. If you want far more volume than any electric horn can give, that's when you step up to one of the complete air horn or train horn kits.

What is the loudest 12-volt horn?

The King 5 and Nathan AirChime K5 train horn kits: both hit 149.4 dB and run on a standard 12-volt electrical system. The compressor's main power comes from the battery through a relay, and an ignition source switches the relay, so the kit only runs while the vehicle is on. If you mean 12 volts with no air system at all, that's the Sniper Electric Horn, the loudest electric horn we carry.
