Air Tank Not Filling to 150 PSI
Most fill problems are leaks, a backwards or stuck valve, or an internal compressor issue.

Check for leaks
Spray soapy water or Windex on a pressurized system and watch for bubbles. Check fittings, solenoid inlet/outlet, drain cock, safety blow-off, and quick-connects.
On a new install, confirm the solenoid is not backwards — a reversed valve often fills only to ~40 PSI. The arrow must point from tank toward the horns.

Test the solenoid valve
Remove a fitting or line from the valve outlet. With pressure in the tank and the switch off, no air should pass. If air leaks continuously, disconnect one valve wire:
- Leak stops → wiring is holding the valve open (check for a short).
- Leak continues → valve failed internally and needs replacement.

Diagnose the compressor
If leaks and the valve check out, run the compressor to its max PSI, then remove the air filter. Steady air blowing back out of the filter housing means a bad internal seal — rebuild or replace.
If the tank builds no pressure, unthread the leader hose, cover the end with your thumb, and run the compressor. A healthy unit should push your thumb off. If it cannot, the compressor has failed internally.
