Preserving Your Horn Kit

After a correct install, maintenance is simple — but skipping it can shorten kit life or kill the system.

  • What you need: access to the tank drain cock and a replacement compressor air filter every few months

Preserving Power

Kits are designed to be low-maintenance when installed correctly. The few jobs that remain are critical.

Drain the air tank regularly

Moisture from the air collects at the bottom of the tank. Left alone, it spreads into electrical parts and corrodes the tank. Drain at least once a month — more often in humid climates.

Loosen the drain cock by turning it clockwise and empty all air and water, then tighten it counter-clockwise before use.

Water is the #1 enemy of electrical components in an onboard air system.

Replace the compressor air filter

The filter keeps debris out of the compressor. A clogged filter makes the unit work harder, overheat sooner, and fill slower — and can lead to failure. Change the filter about every three months.
