Use your steering wheel to fire HornBlasters horns without tearing into the column. Wire the solenoid valve through a dash toggle and tap the OEM horn’s hot wire at the front of the vehicle.
What you need: solenoid valve (from your kit), dash toggle switch, Scotchlok / T-tap connector, and wiring kit leads
Overview
At a glance, this sounds like a very difficult task. Digging into the steering wheel or column is not easy — thankfully, you don’t have to. This guide covers a tried-and-true method of connecting HornBlasters horns to the steering wheel. It applies to almost every vehicle, but not all.
Getting Started
Once the kit is mounted, locate the solenoid valve. Depending on which kit you have, it will look like one of the valves below. Each valve wires the same way — they just look slightly different.

Wire the valve leads
The valve has two wires. One runs forward to the toggle switch. The other goes to the vehicle frame as a ground. It does not matter which valve wire is used for which connection — the leads are reversible.
Focus next on the power wire you will run to the front of the vehicle.

Connect the valve power wire to the toggle
The main power wire from the valve connects to the toggle switch. Mount the toggle on or near the dashboard for easy access. You may use either of the two toggle switch wires for this connection.

Find the OEM horn
On most modern vehicles, the factory horn sits behind the front grille, ahead of or beside the radiator.
You usually do not need to remove the bumper, but removing it can make access easier.

Identify the positive horn wire
Look for the small connector on the horn — it almost always has two wires. One is usually a brighter color (white, yellow, orange, green). The other is often darker (brown, black, grey).
The positive / hot wire is often the brighter color. Confirm with a voltmeter if needed: you want +12V when the steering wheel is pressed.

Locate the Scotchlok / T-tap
Once the positive wire is identified, splice a new lead off it for the toggle switch. Start with the Scotchlok connector from your wiring kit.

Open the connector
Open the connector by pulling the two plastic tabs at the end of the opening to expose the two channels.

Position the OEM wire and new lead
Slide the OEM horn wire into the first (outer) channel. Using the grey or blue wire, position the end so it sits halfway across the connector.

Crimp, close, and test
Position the OEM horn wire and new lead in the connector.
Press the metal tab into both wires with pliers — firm, not so hard that you cut the wire.
Confirm both wires are locked in place.
Fold the plastic tab over to close the connector.
Press the steering wheel with the toggle switch ON. You should hear the solenoid valve click. The OEM horn may also sound, which can make the click harder to hear.
If nothing happens, confirm the splice and check for +12V at the horn wire while pressing the wheel.
