The horn, the bracket, the tank, the plumbing and the install are identical on both kits. What changes is the compressor, and with it how fast the tank refills between honks and how much red power wire the kit needs.

What refill time buys you
Both kits hold the same 2 gallons and both give you 3 to 5 seconds of honk. Refill is how long the compressor takes to put the air back, measured from 110 PSI up to 150 PSI.
The Medium-Duty takes about 1 minute 33 seconds. The Heavy-Duty takes about 35 seconds. If you honk the horns a lot, or you air up tires often, that gap is the whole reason to step up.
What else changes
The Heavy-Duty runs the 1NM Stealth Black compressor, which draws 25 amps and needs 22 ft of 8-gauge red power wire. The Medium-Duty runs the 3Q at 20 amps on 10-gauge.
Both kits ship with an air line cutter and earplugs. The difference between the two boxes is the compressor and the power wire gauge.

Will it fit my truck?
It fits most full-size and mid-size pickups by replacing the standard spare tire. It is not 100% plug and play with every vehicle: 2020 to 2021 Chevy and GMC 1500 and 3500 series trucks require some modification at the mounting point. Adding S6 extensions increases the width from 20 inches to 29 inches, so confirm your clearance first.
How hard is the install?
This is the easiest install we offer. The kit replaces your spare tire, which cuts a typical build from roughly 6 to 8 hours down to 3 to 4. The kit arrives as individual components, so you assemble them onto the bracket and then crank the finished assembly up into place. Hand tools and basic 12-volt wiring knowledge are enough, and detailed instructions plus a full video walkthrough are included.
Which kit should I buy, Medium-Duty or Heavy-Duty?
Only the compressor changes. The Medium-Duty kit uses the HornBlasters 3Q and refills from 110 to 150 PSI in about 1 minute 33 seconds. The Heavy-Duty kit uses the 1NM Stealth Black and does the same refill in about 35 seconds. Both give you 3 to 5 seconds of honk on the same 2-gallon tank. Pick Heavy-Duty if you honk the horns a lot or plan to air up tires often.
Are the horns visible under the truck?
Yes. On the standard Spare Tire Delete Kit the Shocker XL trumpets sit visible below the rear bumper. If you want them fully concealed, look at the Stealth Spare Tire Delete Kit instead.
Can I air up my tires with it?
Yes. The onboard air system that honks the horns also tops off tires and runs small air tools. The kit includes a 200 PSI stainless steel liquid-filled air gauge and a brass fitting kit with a safety blow-off and a drain cock. If you plan to use the air often, the Heavy-Duty kit recovers faster.
Is it actually loud, or is it a toy?
It is a real train horn. The Shocker XL uses four fiberglass-reinforced ABS trumpets with stainless steel internals, from 19.5 inches down to 12.75 inches, running at 150 PSI.
