When the Atlanta Falcons approached HornBlasters to bring authentic train horn sound to their new Mercedes-Benz Stadium, we knew it would be one of our most ambitious and exciting projects to date. The mission: to install a train horn that could energize a crowd of over 70,000 fans and become a true part of the Falcons’ home-game atmosphere.
After multiple on-site visits and extensive sound testing, we chose the Nathan AirChime K5LA—a powerful, deep-toned horn designed for actual locomotives. Its five-chime harmony delivers an unmistakable and emotionally charged blast that’s impossible to ignore. It was the perfect match for the stadium’s energy.
But the horn was only part of the equation.
Engineering Power Behind the Blast
To handle long and frequent horn blasts, we outfitted the stadium with:

A 5 horsepower air compressor

A massive 80-gallon air tank
This setup allows the K5LA to blast for over a minute continuously and recover from 0 to 175 PSI in just 6.5 minutes, ensuring it’s always ready for action during key game moments.
We routed 100 feet of ¾" air line from the horn to the compressor—neatly hidden by the stadium’s construction crew—preserving the venue’s clean and modern design.
Fan Interaction and Custom Activation
We didn’t stop at just installing a horn—we created a memorable fan experience.
To trigger the horn, we installed:

A custom 110-volt red push-button in the Falcons’ private skybox

A pull-cord activation station for fans to experience the horn firsthand

A low-latency wireless remote network to ensure instant horn activation from multiple locations
The result? Fans can feel the raw power of the K5LA with every pull or push—bringing them closer to the game-day action.
The Final Result
