How long can I honk the horn?
It depends on the air system. The 127H light-duty kit gives you 4 to 5 seconds of honk; the 228H medium-duty and 232 heavy-duty kits give you 5 to 6 seconds. Between honks the 127H refills in about 35 seconds, the 228H in about 55 seconds, and the 232 in about a minute and a half.
How loud is the Outlaw?
Third-party testing measured the Outlaw at 142.7 dB at 3 feet. The distance matters: horns advertised above 150 dB were measured right at the bell or never measured at all, which is why we state ours with the distance. It runs three real metal train horn bells on an onboard air system from 120 to 150 PSI depending on the kit. Earplugs come in the box. Wear them when you test it at close range.
Which air system should I get?
The 127H is the best value and gets you loud fast. The 228H steps up to 150 PSI and a longer honk from a 2-gallon tank. The 232 is the heavy-duty pick: it runs the same 2-gallon tank as the 228H, but with a more heavy-duty compressor that comes in handy when airing up tires or using small air tools, plus a quieter fill, a liquid-filled gauge, and the option to split the compressor from the tank.
Will it fit my vehicle?
The horn is the same on every kit: it needs a footprint of 18.5 inches by 15.5 inches and 12.5 inches of height. The air source space depends on the kit: the 127H unit is 15.2 inches by 5.9 inches by 12.8 inches, the 228H unit is 19 inches by 6.25 inches by 14.5 inches, and the 232 splits into a 17-inch tank and a 10.1-inch compressor you can mount separately. Every kit runs on 12-volt DC, so trucks, SUVs, boats, and RVs are all fair game.
Can I air up tires with it?
Yes. On every Outlaw kit the onboard air supply can top off tires and run small air tools, not just power the horns.
